Testing the Sony DSC-HX9v . These are shot handheld under a bunch of CFLs, flash disabled and a mirror bouncing some of the light to avoid shadows from the camera and my hands. I tried some shots of the watch but forgot the semi-microscopic lint that makes it look like it had not been cleaned in a year (and the damn watch is two weeks old!). The white balance on the cap was pretty much on target, everything else got thrown off a little bit.

You Can Soon Save Your PS3 Games In Thin Air Cloud storage means that, rather than just keeping your save game data on your PlayStation 3 's hard drive , users will be given the option to upload their saves remotely to a server. The advantage of this is that not only does it save the user space on their hard drive, but since it's tied to a PlayStation Network account, it can be pulled down to different consoles whenever and wherever the user desires. A couple updates from now Sony will announce that multiplayer-enabled gaming must rely on this cloud mechanism, which is the beginning of the end for any efforts to exploit the firmware. A couple updates after that, all games will at the very least dump a digital signature of save files to this cloud, so good luck trying to edit a save game. This is not about right or wrong, it just bothers me that none of the news outlets reporting on this is trying to extrapolate what this kind of mechanism means beyond the obvious insur...

Nothing special here, just goofing around and trying to see if I could find a compromise with using the flash on the Sony DSC-TX7 while shooting macro (it didn't work very well).

  This made me miss film a tiny little bit. The problem is that it also reminded me of how god damn expensive it was to shoot all that film, then either develop it (smelly, tedious, but rewarding) or having it sent out to process and print ($$$). Then I started remembering how much I sucked at using a light meter correctly, which was the most painful when shooting slides, which had a hell of a lot less room for error than print film. I shot a lot of blue snow, and flat shadows back in my film day. For some reason B&W film never gave me much grief. Tri-X and Plus-X always made me look like a hero, I really loved shooting these two films.  What killed my film addiction? A Sony digital camera that cost an arm and a leg, and had a huge, gorgeous chunk of glass as its lens. I tested one at my job, and liked it so much that I bought one for myself. That camera, the DSC-S70, let me take pictures I could have never figured out with my Nikon D60 35mm SLR.  It's been 1...
