HijiNKS ENSUE – A Geek Webcomic – 5 Days A Week - Maybe In A Walternate Dimension

From HijiNKS ENSUE: The second I learned that Fringe was moving to the Friday Night Death Slot, I knew it was the end. I mean, how naive can one be when the damn title of the first episode was FIREFLY? Seriously? That show is on its death throes. I still tried to watch it, but after two weeks I couldn't take it anymore. What a damn shame. Worse, FOX actually had the nerve to try to come up with a bullshit explanation about how a high percentage of Fringe viewers "time shifted" it, in other words, they recorded it to watch it later so it wouldn't make any difference in ratings if they moved the show. Dumbasses. Related articles Is 'Fringe' in Danger of Cancellation? (tvsquad.com) 'What's The Protocol They Use Over There??' More Death-Slot FRINGE!! Dilbert comic strip for 02/10/2011 from the official Dilbert comic strips archive. Those out of my industry may think OMG FACEBOOK SUX LOL!!!! Those that us that program for the web went FFS NOT AGAIN! And please, don't start about how we (and Scott) are overreacting about Facebook . The problem isn't really Facebook, the problem is everyone else. Why? Facebook is making obscene amounts of dough by keeping captive audiences that for most part don't spent money except for example game credits and that kind of thing. They then turn around and get what is probably even more money from dumbass advertisers that are terrified of missing out on this captive audience. Image via CrunchBase While I am concerned that Ivette is a degenerate Facebook addict that plays stupid games that I can't figure out their appeal, it is no different than the time *I* spend playing video games that Ivette sees as stupid and SHE can't figure out their appeal. If people want to spent mo...

VODO - Pioneer One (2010) — a series by Pioneer One

VODO - Pioneer One (2010) — a series by Pioneer One This is a Sfi Fi show that is being produced independently, funded 100% by community donations. The disturbing thing about this show is that not only was it funded by donations, but it was premiered as a legal bit torrent download. Disturbing to the powers that be, not to us. I saw the pilot and I loved it but felt that they would run out of money, so I was damn pleased to learn today that episode two is out. You can download both episodes (100% legally) with this link . Could this be the solution to the curse of the Friday Night Death Slot for TV Science Fiction? Pioneer One has had over a million downloads already, and there are over 36,000 people seeding it. And yes, it is THAT good. It has really good writing and acting, the photography is great, and the special effects are at least on par to the weekly SyFy Saturday Night feature crapfest movie.

Meet Apertus, The Open Source HD Cinema Camera

This came out yesterday, and got slashdotted this morning:   Here's what I don't understand: Why are people wasting time and resources reinventing the wheel ? Has any of these people looked around and noticed how now every major camera maker in the world has embraced HD video , to the point that it is possible to buy dedicated HD camcorders for around $200? Or how about HD video cameras with vibration control for under $400? Wouldn't this effort be better spent in decent video editing applications that are FOSS ? <HD editing rant> One constant with all of the HD cameras I have tried over the past two years (Kodak Zi6, Sony DSC W and TX series) is that HD editing sucks when you are constrained to whatever software ships with the camera or can be downloaded for free. And yea, I am including iMovie because it is STUPID how (I can attest to this until at least my switch to Windows 7 last year) that iMovie hides (used to?) the export choices that produce 720p o...

Francis Ford Coppola to receive lifetime Oscar

Image by csullens via Flickr Eli Wallach as The Ugly in " The Good, The Bad and The Ugly " Eli Wallach gets one too, about damn time! Too bad the writer of the article was too lazy to check IMDB and figure out that Eli Wallach was also in Coppola's Godfather III , and he stole every damn scene he had. Is it too much to ask reporters to spend a couple of minutes researching the material they are writing about? When you are reporting on a lifetime achievement award on a 94-year old master character actor with 162 movies to his credit, you could at least bother to list his five most popular films .
